Finance Transformation is currently looking for a project manager (PM) who will support the work on Finance Transformation, the University’s large scale project to modernize its finance operations, business systems and processes. The position is a role in the newly established FT program.
In order to be successful the individual will need to exhibit excellent organizational and project leadership skills. Additionally, the role will require strong analytical acumen, broad awareness of key organizational objectives, and an ability to prioritize multiple timelines and competing goals. Candidates should be flexible to work across this delivery landscape which includes and not limited to Agile Applications Development, Support and Deployment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Management
Work with other PMO resources to define and track Critical Path and inter-project dependency planning and tracking. Build a repeatable hand-off process for work that moves between responsible technology teams. Track and report on these bodies of work. Manage backlog and plan refinement sessions to ensure health of backlog via technical tools including Jira. Schedule and facilitate meetings, take notes, follow-up on action items, run Scrums, develop, and maintain project plans, etc. Create and maintain detailed work plans in support of Technical Workstreams including gap application development. Proactively identify potential risks, dependencies, and obstacles which may hinder successful completion of deliverables and achievement of project goals and escalate as needed. Provide project management support for all FT Tech Workstreams, including planning and coordination of change management and communications. Drive and facilitate communication with program and project teams, management, customers, and stakeholders. Communication to all project stakeholders the status with ongoing projects and process improvement activities and negotiates cross-functional challenges.
Communication
Partner with functional teams and PMs to understand the flow of functional design effort. Own the sequencing of technical work to align appropriately with flow of functional design. Coordinate with Functional Leads to ensure priorities are aligned with project management goals. Proactive coordination of work across a distributed set of partner engineering teams understanding the technical landscape of the enterprise organization. Drive and own linkages between effort of partner teams to work on the program team. Regularly attend meetings to document problem statements, use cases, technical requirements, timeline expectations, deliverables, action items and follow ups there-of. Support and coordinate implementation aspects of vendors software solutions as needed to enable core financial implementation in Workday. Own relationship with external teams (i.e. project teams at banks) and drive scheduling, coordination, and status reporting Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree in information management, computer science, business administration or related field Minimum of five years of experience performing progressively more complex tasks in information and technical management activities particularly in ERP applications as Lead/Principal and experience in information technology Experience with large scale technical project management in large, complex environments Experience with Agile project management Full system development life cycles hands-on experience: Analysis, designing, coding, testing, performance tuning and documentation Strong prioritization skills and the ability to multitask efficiently on parallel efforts Experience in Workday integration with multiple legacy system landscapes and third-party systems Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively build relationships, promotes a collaborative and team environment, and influences others. Strong organizational skills required to manage multiple priorities. Demonstrated good leadership and communication skills for effectively working with diverse stakeholders.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
DESIRED:
PMP Certification Experience leading development of end-to-end Information Technology solutions Proficiency in JIRA or similar project tracking/issue tracking tool Experience in major research university setting Knowledge of multiple business subject areas, i.e., Finance, Student, etc.

This position on the Finance Transformation Project is temporarily funded; continued employment is contingent on ongoing funding and performance.
