Currently the Business Office schedule is hybrid – working from home and safely in the office by wearing masks and practicing social distancing.
We are a top tier independent school seeking an accountant to manage the accounting and reconciling of all accounts related to Lakeside School’s contributed and earned revenue. Additional responsibilities include balance sheet reconciliation and analyses, journal entries and backup for accounts payable.
Specific duties include:
Record all contributed revenue including pledge accruals and pledge payments. Monitor the school’s brokerage account for stock gifts and initiate trades and transfer cash proceeds. Serve as a liaison between the business office and development office for all matters related to recognizing and reconciling contributed revenue between departments.
Record all earned and inter-departmental revenue such as food services, catering, bookstore, facilities rentals, Global Online Academy, athletic concessions, and fundraising events for student club fundraising events.
Prepare and process checks for remote depositing to the school’s commercial banking account.
Serve as the point person for the school’s merchant services and payment gateway vendors. Records all merchant services revenue activity and allocates fees between departments monthly.
Prepare various monthly reconciliations, journal entry vouchers along with inter-departmental transfers. Responsible for the deferral and recognition of prepaid expenses.
Handle all accounting and financial reporting for the Parent & Guardians’ Association.
Ongoing monitoring and tracking of fixed assets projects in collaboration with the Facilities Director to ensure that costs are being tracked and recognized appropriately between the plant and operating funds. Also records monthly depreciation, disposals and prepares reconciliations.
Review and approve vendor invoices and employee reimbursements in Microix, an accounts payable automated workflow system, and post to accounting system on a weekly basis.
Compile the annual pro forma to determine pricing of the Metro custom bus program along with other bus program analysis as required. Handle program expenses and semi-annual invoicing to partner schools.
Actively participates in audit preparation by delivering all required documentation relevant to the revenue, fixed assets and other accounting areas as determined.
Responsible for the filing of the annual registrations the City of Seattle business license, Washington Secretary of State and other renewals/returns as determined.

Have demonstrated cultural awareness, including knowledge of themselves and the cultural lenses you bring to interactions. You will understand different perspectives; interact respectfully with cultures other than your own; and cultivate meaningful relationships with people that have different cultural frameworks.
Possess a thorough understanding of nonprofit accounting.
Have intermediate skills in MS Office suite, especially Excel. Experience with Abila MIP is a plus.
Be able to provide examples of how you have demonstrated judgment, time organization skills, and attention to detail in your work.
Communicate financial data with clarity.
Maintain high level of professional and confidentiality standards.
Satisfactorily complete two criminal history background checks.
And, prior experience in independent schools would awesome!
