University Child Development School (UCDS), an independent school, is searching for a Senior Accountant for its Business Office. This is an in person position. UCDS is located in Seattle Washington.

The role of the Senior Accountant is an integral part of the Business Office. The Senior Accountant is responsible for the day to day operations of the Business Office. The role is responsible for management of the General Ledger, ensuring a timely month end close, and all appropriate general ledger account reconciliations. The role reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
Print and distribute departmental financial statements.
Prepare compliance filings with State of Washington and IRS. (Sales and Use Tax filings, Charitable Gift Filing, and other miscellaneous tax filings).
Prepare & submit timely, accurate payment of debt service.
Assist the CFO in the preparation and monitoring of departmental budgets and forecasts working with other administrators and department heads concerning budget performance.
Assist the CFO in preparing and maintaining the annual budget.
Work closely with the Development Office on gift accounting and reporting, ensuring that all activity is compliant with donor restrictions.
Provide support for the preparation of audited annual financial statements taking the lead position on preparation of schedules and work papers for annual audits.
Maintain daily cash balances and review bank reports daily.
Assist CFO with cash flow analysis and projections.
Participate in responding to periodic surveys and reports for the school’s trade organizations, as requested.
Initiate and drive process improvements for greater accuracy, financial control and efficiency.
Other miscellaneous tasks as assigned in support of the CFO.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred
5+ years of progressive accounting experience; public accounting and/or private industry
The ability to prioritize multiple tasks, manage deadlines and solve problems effectively and efficiently in a service-oriented manner
Experience with Oracle Netsuite strongly preferred, but not required.
Interest in learning and managing ERP data structures and reporting capabilities.
Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills (v-lookups, pivot tables, etc.)
Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
Team player who is positive, energetic, and not afraid to roll up your sleeves
Requires a high level of independence, accountability, good judgment and attention to detail in a fast paced environment.
