Course Operation: Eighteen hole semi-private golf club located in Oak Harbor on
Whidbey Island, Washington.
Oak Harbor is located 80 miles north of Seattle.
Perform standard golf course maintenance duties, including fertilizer/pesticide applications, construction, and course set-up. Assist the Golf Course Superintendent in the training and supervision of the maintenance staff. Must be able to operate, maintain, and repair a complex irrigation system, including leaks in distribution lines, valves, and risers. Repair control lines and sprinkler heads. Must be able to work under the supervision of the Superintendent for the tasks required.
Operate mowers and string trimmers in trimming greens, aprons, tees, around trees, fence lines, banks and hillsides; edges cart paths; edges, rakes and maintains sand bunkers.
Set tee markers and cups on greens; maintains ball washers; replaces tee towels and flags when needed; removes debris; sands and seeds tee and drop area divots; and cleans flower beds.
Maintain fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment on a daily basis; reports equipment problems or failure to the equipment manager immediately.
Return all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility; and cleans the maintenance areas.
Water and fertilize tees, greens and fairways, and under direct supervision of a certified applicator, sprays chemicals on landscaped areas. .
Help in project work; assists in the construction of new greens, tees and fairways; grades and prepares soil base; lays sod; and seeds tees, greens and fairways.
Operate mowers, dump trucks or other light equipment.
Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.
2 or 4 year degree in Turf Management or related field
Knowledge methods and materials used in grounds and landscape area construction/maintenance work.
Working knowledge of and ability to use hand and power tools and equipment.
Ability to operate trucks and light motorized equipment.
Physical strength, stamina and agility. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Ability to follow oral and written directions.
Must have or the ability to obtain WA state Pesticide License.
