Health Sciences Administration (HSA) and supported units have developed a Shared Services Center combining efforts already in practice to provide a cohesive, effective and customer centric model. HSA Shared Services Center has an outstanding opportunity for a Manager Computing Services.
Provide leadership in the planning, development, implementation, management, and support of network connectivity and security needs. Administer Shared Services Center network with multiple servers running Microsoft Windows Servers - domain controllers, backup, firewall, virtual and file servers. Administer and support workstations, remote connections, and other network devices. Act as consultant to the HSA Shared Services participating units, clinical and administrative staff, on all network and security related issues. Under general direction, this position functions independently with daily operations. The primary responsibility of this position is monitoring and enhancing the operating environment to ensure optimal performance and availability. In-depth knowledge in the implementation, analysis, optimization, troubleshooting and documentation of various systems related to IT. Strong “hands on” technical knowledge with the proven ability to motivate project teams to ensure success. The Manager Computing Services will lead three other Senior Computer Specialists and four Technicians, and be responsible for the management of the team’s workflow and priorities.
Supervision: •Oversee operations for helpdesk, desktop, infrastructure services teams. •Manage ITSM and service level agreements to ensure all services are responded to in a timely manner and agreements are met. •Act as primary supervisor (e.g. performance management, professional development/career planning) for technical professionals •Maintain a broad view of the organizational demands and available resources to facilitate planning and staffing of projects and services and leading skill development for the organization
Server Administration: •Research, recommend, estimate costs, plan, install, and implement new systems which include hosted/managed servers, and security systems/applications. •Analyze, plan, develop, implement, update, and maintain servers and systems. •Install and configure server hardware, software and network peripheral devices for both servers and client devices. •Maintain technical assistance/consultation documentation of server/workstation/systems problem resolving and problem diagnosing procedures •Monitor and analyze server operations and research/recommend/request needs or changes •Participate in testing and evaluating hardware products in planning for institutional standards. •Plan, develop, test and schedule server and client software upgrades/patches. •Provide technical expertise and leadership for a complex departmental network. •Serve as the primary technical contact for Shared Services Center •Troubleshoot hardware/software/peripheral/connectivity problems.
Security: •Assess, prioritize, implement, maintain, and enforce security measures that will comply with state and federal regulations (i.e. - HIPAA). Includes, developing and enforcing security standards, audits, and policies for compliance, and coordination of security investigations. •Analyze, plan, develop, implement, and maintain security measures, including: network monitoring tools, antivirus systems, firewalls, physical securities, and user training. •Establish and maintain security access to the local area network: oversee and assist in creating and maintaining user accounts, monitor security. •Analyze, plan, develop, implement, and maintain a disaster recovery plan. •Schedule and run routine server and systems backups and coordinate/maintain off-site storage of recovery archives.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of health assessment at the UW's Employee Health Clinic. The health assessment may include but is not limited to tuberculosis clearance, measles clearance, serum banking, immunizations such as tetanus and vaccinia, physical exam and/or review of work health history, x-rays, and/or assessment to wear positive or negative respiratory protective equipment. These health assessments will be repeated periodically during work assignment.
This position may be required to work with and take specific precautions against and/or be immunized against potentially infectious agents. Specific precautions may include wearing respirators and/or protective clothing. Employee is personally responsible for following health & safety and security policies/procedures, and staying current on all required training. Blood borne pathogen training and compliance with all WaNPRC and UW security policies is also mandatory.
REQUIREMENTS: •Provide excellent customer service by actively listening to customer’s concerns, effectively communicating options, respecting the customer’s decisions and implementing them in a timely and cost effective manner. •Embrace change •Commitment to continuous improvement in work process and efficiency •Ability to work in an ambiguous environment •Cultivate positive working relationships with coworkers, management, customers, manufacturers, vendors and the general public. •Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. •Maintain accurate and timely documentation as required. •Demonstrated working knowledge of current versions of Microsoft Windows Servers or equivalent. •Expertise with the following: - Federated Authentication using Shibboleth, SAML, ADFS or LDAP - Microsoft SQL Server - Deploying Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) as an application platform - Using the UW-IT Groups Service tool - Working with the UW-IT Delegated OU Service - Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) •Ability to communicate effectively verbally and written in technical manner. •Experience working on high-level projects. •Proficient using HTML, CSS, PHP •Experience with SharePoint administration •Experience with multi-factor authentication systems •Experience with WordPress •Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision. •Experience with SCCM, Linux Server, Windows Server and Desktop, WSUS, MDT, WDS, Active Directory, Group Policy Management, data center operations. •Familiarity with; A+, Security +, Network+, ITIL Foundations, Project Management, MCSA, Linux RHCSA •Ability to troubleshoot and maintain server hardware •Able to create, update, maintain workstation configurations •Experience in design and implementation of network security technologies. •Experience in design and implementation of Windows Server Update Services. •Demonstrated communication skills and ability to work with personnel of various levels of technical background. •Experience in training others in the use of computer systems. •Able to work with minimum supervision. •Minimum 5 years’ experience performing progressively more complex and responsible tasks including: design, development, maintenance of a local network with multiple servers running multiple network operating systems in a secured environment. Bachelor's Degree in CSE, Business Information Systems, or related •3 years of direct end user support as well as management of IT systems
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
