The Accounting team has a wide range of responsibilities relating to all aspects Fred Hutchs finances including financial reporting, policy setting, internal and data controls and transaction processing. The team works closely with multiple groups within Fred Hutch to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
The Accounting Specialist II is an integral part of the Centers Accounting team and performs cash management functions relating to all aspects the Centers finances. This roles main function is to deposit and record incoming payments. The position works closely with multiple groups within the Center to ensure accurately and timely recording of financial information. The position reports directly to the Accounting Manager.
Responsible for daily cash administration
Review and prepare bank depositsin CashPro
Record cash receiptsin financial system
Record customer payments in billing system and apply to customer accounts
Review and process journal entries
Respond to internal/externalcustomer inquiries and requests for information
Manage monthly A/R, bank and customer account reconciliations
Review transactions and posting for compliance with established guidelines and policies
Assists in financial management and analysis, as requested
Assist in responding to auditor requests for reporting, documentation, or policies and procedures.
Resolves problems in recurring assignments in accordance with previous training and experience
Organizes and maintains retention files for requiredperiod of time
Assist with ongoing maintenance and configuration of financial systems
Perform other responsibilities as required, including occasional administrative and clerical tasks
High schooldiplomaor GEDequivalent required,
Minimum of two years bookkeeping,accounts receivable, cash collection, banking orfinancial experience
Intermediate skills with MSWord,Excel,Outlook
Person must be diligent and self motivated with attention to detail
Ability to consistently and accuratelyprocess transactions
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work efficiently
Must have excellent work habits, including organization and timeliness
Should have strong interpersonal communication skills and desire to work in team-oriented environments
Collegelevel accounting classes or Accountingor relatedDegree
Experience with PeopleSoft a plus
Experience with non-profit or research a plus

The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance was incorporated in 1998 as a separate, jointly governed non-profit that included the cancer programs of three partners. Seattle Cancer Care Alliance is a cancer treatment center that unites doctors from Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center, University of Washington Medical Center, and Seattle Children’s. The purpose of this organization is to provide state-of the-art patient and family centered care; support the conduct of cancer clinical research and education; enhance access to improved cancer interventions; and advance the standard of cancer care regionally and beyond. The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance is the only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center in the Northwest, and according to the National Cancer Data Base, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance patients in general have better survival rates than patients treated at other cancer treatment centers.
