Careers Start Here. This part-time Research Technician I position is in a service laboratory within the Specimen Processing lab, a Fred Hutch Shared Resources Core Facility. The laboratory provides cell banking services to researchers at the Hutch and around the world. The technician will be responsible for the processing of human blood samples, including isolation, purification, and cryopreservation of lymphocytes and the transformation, expansion, and cryopreservation of B-lymphoblastoid cell lines. Candidates should be familiar with the use of molecular biology techniques such as DNA extraction, PCR, and DNA typing. Responsibilities will also include the performance of quality control procedures for tissue culture and DNA, the recording of data and maintenance of a laboratory database, and participation in the prioritization of laboratory activities. The position may involve work on some weekends and/or evenings.
