UWMC has four outstanding opportunities for a CARDIOVASCULAR TECHNOLOGIST - EP, full-time (100%). Responsibilities include scrubbing, monitoring and circulating diagnostic and complex electrophysiology (EP) cardiology procedures. Case types include diagnostic EP studies, ablations (SVT, AVNRT, Afib, Aflutter, VTach) and device implantations.
The Cardiovascular Technologist (Advanced CVT) in the EP Lab performs a variety of cardiac EP imaging procedures, including ablations and devices and is responsible for patient safety protocols. Functions as the first line interface with patients in the successful accomplishment of their cardiac imaging and monitoring needs. In addition, they participate in CQI activities.
Instructs and prepares patients for cardiac EP procedures.
Selects appropriate equipment to use for procedure.
Safely and correctly operates radiographic equipment to produce angiographic, digital and other specialized images.
Effectively operates complex computerized physiological equipment to monitor and record ECG's and intracardiac pressures during a variety of cardiac procedures. Collects hemodynamic data, oxygen saturations and cardiac outputs using a variety of equipment.
Preps and drapes patients following aseptic techniques.
Performs patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Consistently assesses patient pain interfering with imaging procedure - makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
Accurately injects contrast media (as needed) under the direct presence and supervision of the Cardiologist performing the procedure.
Follows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
Ensures proper technical factors are selected prior to image capture.
Ensures all images are properly marked prior to image capture.
Practices required medical and surgical aseptic procedures.
Participates in the management of inventory and assists in the evaluation of new products as directed/requested.
Participates in the education and competency training of other staff, fellows and students.
Performs quality control testing on a variety of equipment.
Assists in maintaining accurate records and reports.
Takes turn in providing coverage for cases which may run late due to emergent cases and/or length of procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Associate of Arts (AA) degree from an accredited Interventional Cardiovascular Technologist Program AND registration by Cardiovascular Credentialing International AND Licensure by the State of Washington as a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist
Associate of Arts (AA) degree from an accredited Radiologic Technologist Program Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Diagnostic Radiology with Cardiac-Interventional (CI) Radiography Certification and Licensure by the State of Washington as a Radiologic Technologist
