This Accountant 2 position in Financial Accounting will review and record journal entries as well as establish and maintain accounting records. This is a limited term appointment, not expected to last more than 6 months. This is a part time position, averaging 24 hours a week, with working hours to be scheduled during office hours 8 am - 5 pm.
Typical Responsibilities & Duties:
Review, analyze and upload journal vouchers and cash transmittals into the UW accounting system. Communicate with requesters to ensure proper accounting and sufficient support for the requests. Maintain records of transactions.
Communicate with UW departments regarding funds received by UW main bank account to ensure proper distribution of funds received. Prepare journal vouchers or cash transmittals to record banking activity.
Analyze financial records, extract required information, research and consolidate information for supervisor review.
Prepare non-recurring accounting reports as requested.
Provide timely response to customer inquiries; independently resolve customer inquiries are issues.
Requirements: A Bachelor's Degree in accounting, business administration, computer science, economics or closely related field which includes at least thirty quarter hours or twenty semester hours of college level accounting courses AND eighteen months of full-time experience as a professional accountant.
Four years of experience as a Fiscal Technician, or equivalent in the public sector, AND thirty quarter hours or twenty semester hours of college-level accounting AND eighteen months of full-time experience as a professional accountant.
Equivalent combination of education/experience will substitute for above minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/ registration.
Experience which demonstrates:
-Advanced Excel skills including Vlookups, pivot tables, and formulas.
-Consistent attention to details and accuracy of work.
-Proficiency in data entry skills.
-Resourcefulness in problem-solving.
-Thorough and well-organized work habits.
-Ability to analyze and understand journal entries (debits/credits).
