UW Medicine Human Resources has an outstanding full time opportunity for a Human Resources Employment Specialist.POSITION PURPOSE: This position will support assigned customer groups at Harborview Medical Center (HMC) and University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC) by performing the employment process function; including creating and managing candidate banks and filling positions with high volume vacancies. Selected candidate must balance the potentially competing needs of HMC and UWMC while filling vacant positions at both. Position will support the employment team and hiring managers by developing and implementing a recruitment plan and completing associated duties. Provide high level of customer service and consultation to managers on hiring and employment policies and procedures. RESPONSIBILITIES:Work effectively to meet the staffing needs of customers. Utilize a comprehensive recruitment software program/database to create/manage candidate pools, conduct candidate searches, and source qualified candidates. Analyze job requirements, determine essential job functions, and identify selection criteria. Evaluate and refer top quality applicants to specific job openings. Apply knowledge of federal and state law, regulations, bargaining unit contracts, and UW policy to candidate referral process. Receive, review, respond to, and work to resolve hiring and selection related complaints and appeals. Provide consultative advice to managers during the interview process to include guidance or development of effective and innovative interviewing techniques. Advise hiring managers in candidate selection techniques and recommend finalists. Support clients with conducting reference checks on final candidates. Provide consultation to departments regarding labor relations issues, job market, salary setting and negotiation, re-employment, layoff rehire, the accommodation process, equal employment opportunity practices, and a variety of other employment issues. Conduct informational interviews with internal/external candidates to identify career opportunities within the UW Medicine, and establish relationships with career centers at colleges, universities, and community organizations. Maintain current knowledge of competitive employment and recruiting technology and advertising. Participate in job fairs and networking events. Responsibilities in support of the recruitment function may include submitting job announcements, placing advertisements, welcoming/on-boarding new hires, dispositioning filled requisitions, etc. Participate in special projects, committees, and task forces. This includes but is not limited to participation on interview selection committees, performing exit interviews to troubleshoot problematic turnover, serving on HR committees, etc. Perform other related duties incidental to work described herein. REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field AND two years of related human resources experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements. Computer proficiency to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations governing employment. Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply complex rules and regulations in problem solving and consulting with clients regarding employment. Ability to work effectively as part of a team, establishing effective working partnerships with diverse groups of people. Experience using an applicant tracking system to manage applicant pools and job requisitions. Competencies:

A PHR or SPHR is desirable. A proven track record in proactively and creatively sourcing and recruiting candidates in a high-volume environment utilizing multiple sourcing channels. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:Office environment; extensive workload demands potentially requiring greater than a 40-hour work week; working under pressure with expected and unexpected deadlines affecting workload management.
